What Is the Gangnam Style AI Trend? Three Friends, One Phone
Where the trio selfie reel came from, how the AI versions copy it, and how to put yourself and your friends in one.
Last updated: 2026-10-29
The Gangnam Style AI trend is an AI-made version of a TikTok reel in which three friends take turns at one phone camera, lip-syncing and grooving to PSY's Gangnam Style. The real reel was filmed at night in Seoul's Gangnam district; the AI versions copy its shots with new people in them. On this site you upload 1 to 3 photos and get that reel with you and your friends in the three places, as a 6, 10 or 15-second video with the Gangnam Style sound.
Where the Trend Started
The reel everyone copies was posted on TikTok by @emiliyyam on October 5, 2026, captioned "gangnam style in gangnam 🇰🇷". She and two friends filmed it at night in Gangnam, the Seoul district the song is named after. By October 29, 2026 it had about 20.1 million views and 3.2 million likes.
The format is simple: a group selfie, then each friend's solo turn at the lens, lip-syncing to the "Oppan Gangnam Style" sound, then everyone squeezed back into one shot.
Why It Took Off
- The song needs no introduction. "Gangnam Style" by Korean singer PSY came out on July 15, 2012, and its music video was the first on YouTube to pass one billion views, in December 2012. The song was famous long before TikTok.
- It was filmed in Gangnam itself. Doing Gangnam Style in Gangnam is the point of the caption.
- Anyone with two friends can copy it. No choreography to learn: one phone, three turns, one shared selfie at the end.
The AI Versions
The first popular AI version came from @mxna.mxna on October 12, 2026: "Oppan Gangnam Style (AI)", a shot-for-shot remake with three AI-made women on a sunset sidewalk, crediting @emiliyyam. It had about 168,000 views by October 29, 2026.
From October 19, 2026, more AI versions followed with film characters and famous people swapped in. This site doesn't make those: it's for you and friends who agreed to it, with no celebrities or public figures. On TikTok the trend runs under #gangnamstyle, #gangnamstyleai, #aitrend and #psy, and on YouTube many Shorts are titled "Gangnam Style AI video".
How the AI Version Works
Every video here copies the shots of @mxna.mxna's AI remake and puts the people from your photos in.
What comes from the remake:
- the shots, camera moves, timing and poses
- the setting: the remake's sunset city sidewalk
- the Gangnam Style sound, PSY's song, the same audio as the viral reels
What comes from your photos:
- the people: you in the middle holding the phone, a friend on the right, a friend on the left
- with one photo, you play all three; with two, you also play the friend on the left
- a pet photo also works for a part, and the pet dances as an animal
The length decides how many solo turns you get. 6 seconds is the group selfie, your solo turn and all three together. 10 seconds adds the friend on the right's turn. 15 seconds, the full version, adds the friend on the left's turn before all three end up back in one selfie. The original reel is about 21 seconds; the 15-second version skips the middle person's second solo.
The Real Reel and the AI Remake, Side by Side
The two clips people copy are not the same video. @emiliyyam's reel, posted on TikTok on October 5, 2026, is real footage: three friends at night in Seoul's Gangnam district, about 20.1 million views by October 29. @mxna.mxna's remake, posted on October 12, keeps the same order of shots and the same Gangnam Style sound but moves it to a sunset sidewalk between glass office towers, with three AI-made women in the three places. Videos made on this site copy that remake: its sunset street, its camera moves and its timing, with the people from your photos. The output is landscape 16:9 like both reels, and the 15-second version leaves out the middle person's second solo from the roughly 21-second original.
Make Your Own
Head to the generator, sign in with Google, upload your photo and up to two friends' photos, pick a length and tick the consent box. The video usually takes about 5 to 6 minutes. For the details, from which photo goes where to posting it, read how to make a Gangnam Style AI video.
Join the Trend Responsibly

- Everyone in the photos must be 18 or older.
- Don't use photos of celebrities, politicians or other public figures.
- Label your clip as AI-generated when you post it.
Gangnam Style AI Trend FAQ
Who sings Gangnam Style?
PSY, a Korean singer. He released "Gangnam Style" on July 15, 2012, and it's famous for its horse-riding dance. The trend uses the song's "Oppan Gangnam Style" sound.
Who posted the original reel?
TikTok creator @emiliyyam, with two friends, on October 5, 2026. The AI versions copy her reel, and the AI remake by @mxna.mxna is the one this site's videos follow.
Was the TikTok reel really filmed in Gangnam?
Yes. @emiliyyam's reel was filmed at night in Seoul's Gangnam district, which is why the caption reads "gangnam style in gangnam". The AI remake moved the scene to a sunset sidewalk, and so do the videos made here.

No. The trend is the trio selfie: each person takes a turn at the phone, lip-syncing and grooving to the song. The horse-riding dance belongs to PSY's 2012 music video.
Is this site affiliated with PSY or TikTok?
No. AI Gangnam Style is an independent tool and isn't affiliated with PSY, P Nation, YG Entertainment, TikTok or the creators of the clips shown.
